Alone With You: it's basically weird Star Trek
Hey, everyone! We wanted to celebrate the launch of Alone With You on itch with a quick FAQ on our critically-acclaimed sci-fi romance adventure game.
What is Alone With You?
It's a sci-fi adventure game that focuses on telling a deep story and getting you emotionally involved with both its characters and world. We originally launched it as a PlayStation exclusive on PS4 and PS Vita, and it's since gone on to find love on PC, Mac and other systems.
What makes it different?
Alone With You has two main game loops: day-to-day exploration of the dramatic, rapidly-crumbling space colony on which you live to reveal the game's main story; and the night-time scenes with four very interesting holograms, with whom we hope you'll become very invested. Did you ever see that episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation where Geordi La Forge falls in love with a character in the Holodeck? It's basically that episode, but six hours long.
Is it a visual novel?
Not exactly, but if you like visual novels, there's a lot to love here. You move your character through scenes, scanning items to reveal information and piece together the plot. You also find items that can be used to open up new areas in each mission, and find clues to passcodes and such to help you proceed. But if you like story, boy are you in for a good time!
How long is it?
Average play time is 4–6 hours. It's got a lot of text, but it's never overwhelming at any one time; there are just so many little details for you to discover as you playing, There are two main endings and multiple choices you can make that will determine who you spend more time with. Follow your heart or try to see all there is to see; either way, you're in for something entirely unique and you can look forward to new conversations with each playthrough.
